I like the separate action folders. That would probably help me when I reach the point where my action folder doesn't have anything that sounds "fun" at the moment. Instead of procrastinating, I could go to Action B! =)

I have been trying to figure out how to change the subject like on my Outlook messages because I think that would save a lot of time. That field seems to be "locked," though. Do you know if that is a setting or something?

		<description>Great post!  I have a slight variation that works for me - it is very similar to yours, and I'm so glad you've found something that works.

I set up an Action A folder (for important stuff) and and Action B folder (for less important stuff.)  This is where I put ANYTHING that requires action on my part, if it will take more than 2 minutes.

I apply a two minute rule to anything new that requires action in the inbox - if it can be handled in less than 2 minutes, handle it regardless of priority.  The second you know it'll take you over 2 minutes, throw it into an action folder, and set a diary or a reminder.  That way  you can easily find whatever task was delivered by email.

One other hint - in most email programs, you can change the subject line of a received email.  Add to the subject line before you move it so you can find it more easily!

I generally use Outlook just because it is what I have always used. Plus, I installed an add-in for Getting Things Done called Jello Dashboard. It adds a few folders and checklist type items to help you get better organized. I have heard that Gmail is excellent, but haven't been able to pry myself away from Outlook yet. =)

I think, with GTD, it's less about the application you choose and more about how you tweak folders and things to fit with your system. I am fairly certain that the changes I have made to Outlook could be made to just about any mail application.
