Another week has come and gone and that means it’s time for another Trip Around the Blogosphere. This week there was some record breaking weather in my area (Pacific Northwest) and a whole lot of great content on the internet. Enjoy.
Robert Bruce guests at Problogger with 27 Thoughts on Blogging for the Artist. They are all excellent points. My favorite is #22: “Remember that the mainstream culture has yet to catch on to the power of the individual artist online. Keep working.” I think he’s dead on.
This is actually an older post, but I just recently started subscribing to Etienneteo, a blog full of excellent tips about blogging, social networking and all that goes along with them. There are a ton of very helpful post on this blog, but my favorite so far is Comprehensive Secrets to Receiving Massive Traffic from Stumble-Upon. Even if you are a Stumble-Upon master, this article is still worth checking out.
If you read my blog this week you know that my PageRank was just restored after I finally added nofollows to everything that could be considered a paid link. Mark has a great post on Court’s Internet Marketing School discussing the Risk and Reward of Buying Links. He goes over a very interesting case study and helps to clear up some of mystery behind why Google seems to turn a blind eye to some link buying and then slaps others.
Guesting at Problogger, The Blog Entrepreneur asks Is the Making Money Blogging Bubble about to Burst? He discusses all the recent overpriced blog sales, the constant me-too articles and how other similar money-making booms have quickly been followed by busts. It is a compelling article and it leads to other compelling articles. If you haven’t read The Blog Entrepreneur, be sure to check it out. His writing style is straightforward and he’s smart and original so, unlike so many other bloggers, his strong opinions are thought-provoking rather than off-putting.
Shawn Casey and Tellman Knudson have an excellent new free training program out right now. If you head over to List Building Dot Com, you can check out their video, Listbuilding Flow. Take a look at the video and if you like it, sign up for their list and they’ll send more free training your way. These are two guys who really know their sh!t so you really ought to grab this while you can. No, I’m not involved in any way and no, that isn’t an affiliate link.
On Pureblogging, Jim Smoot has a guest post discussing the merits of sticking with SEO methods that are known to work regardless of their popularity with Google. In Throwing the Baby out with the Bath Water, he
urges bloggers to keep in mind that Google isn’t the only search engine out there and there is no reason to abandon best practices for the sake of one site’s pickiness.
Also at Pureblogging, Kevin Ott asks: Are you Truly Engaging your Audience?. Using a “green” flier printed on non-recycled paper to frame his point, Kevin executes a killer article calling out the fakers who convince others they are providing quality information when it’s really just sh!t in fancy gift wrap. Excellent post that should make you stop and take a look at all your content and ask if it’s really worth people’s time.
Steven Snell writes on Daily Blog Tips about 8 Addictive Habits of Bloggers. He briefly outlines these time-wasting behaviors and gives some advice on how to stop yourself from doing them. There are quite a lot of helpful comments posted as well so be sure you read through.
I think I will leave it at that. This will be a double post day as I am working on a fun feature for later in the day. So be sure to subscribe or check back later so you don’t miss it.
