In the spirit of community, Maki at Dosh Dosh is asking for readers’ opinions on the best way to make money online. To partipate in the group survey, you need only post a comment on the article or post about it on your own blog. Because I think this is relevant to Pajama Professional, I have chosen the second option.

In the six months that I have been writing this blog, I have tried an awful lot of ways to make money. A lot of them work and would work even better if I stuck to them. However, for me, the best way to make money online is to establish a niche authority blog. With an authority blog in a potentially profitable niche, you have many options for monetization:

  • Adsense
  • Kontera and other contextual advertising
  • Affiliate programs
  • Paid posting
  • Sponsors
  • Other self-established advertising deals
  • A homebase for your own info-products
  • And more…
  • I included the caveat “potentially profitable” because you really do need to do your research before you choose your niche. For example, if I had done my research before starting Pajama Professional, I would have chosen another topic on which to cut my teeth. The “make money online” niche is one of the most popular, most competitive and hardest from which to profit. Since the birth of this blog I have created two others that are much more profitable and involve much less work.

If you are going to attempt to establish an authority blog, I highly recommend subscribing to Chris G’s RSS feed because you’ll get a link to his ebook, Killer Flagship Content. It’s a must-read if you are going the authority route. Blog feeds are the very best way to learn how to blog. You honestly do not need to buy expensive ebooks and courses, just spend a few days reading the archives of the following blogs. After full immersion, you will emerge a changed blogger:

    ProBlogger
    Dosh Dosh
    Court Tuttle
    Chris G
    Blogging Tips

I included Chris G in case anyone is skimming. And, no, I’m not sucking up by putting Dosh Dosh on the must-read list. It is seriously a necessary read for thorough and interesting instructions on how to make money online.

Making money online is only difficult if you are impatient and lazy. Honestly, it takes time to build credibility and rank. And it takes work to write content, make friends and market. If you can be patient and don’t mind hard work (at least at first), then establishing an authority blog is the best way to make money online.

  • Nice list. Never heard of Chris G. before. And yes, it certainly takes time, one of the main reasons why so many people don't make it.
  • Bloggers can also earn money with online music stores that offer free music as a part of promotional program. This way you attract traffic, get more returning visitors and get paid if your visitors register with music sites. So as you can see it's slightly different from ordinary affiliate program.

  • Court - You already live up to it!

Bobby - I've read all of Court's posts as well. He always has such original ideas, I feel like I walk away having learned something every time.

Ventrilo - I like paid posting, but sometimes it is difficult to stick with the theme and feel of your blog if you are writing a ton of paid posts. I'm glad you've made it work for you.

  • Adsense and paid posting have been working very well for me. Paid posting seems to be the best bang for the buck
  • It's nice to see Court comment here! I read all of these blogs. Problogger came by and left several comments last month on my blog.

He said that it is difficult to respond to thousands of comments. I suppose he is right!

Personally, I think Court is the next big superstar money blogger. I have read ALL of his posts.

I just wish he would take the time to read all of mine. Is that too much to ask?
  • Your post is good but try to add the features of each programs.....
  • Aw you're so freaking nice! Thanks for including me with some real ballers. I'll try to live up to that. ;)
