I own upwards of 30 domains. I have switched domain registrars several times over the years, but have finally settled on 1&1 Domain Name Registration. I’m not going to make this a long post, but I just wanted to share this great service with you.

Since I already have a hosting account, I don’t host with 1&1, but their domain registration service is fast, inexpensive and they offer free private registration. This is relatively rare for a domain registrar. Generally registrars take advantage of any extra fees they can charge.

It is also extremely easy to complete a DNS redirect and set up your domain on your own host if you choose not to use their web hosting services. If you are looking to register a domain name anytime soon, I highly recommend 1&1 Domain Name Registration.

  • Thank you for your recommendation, I will just using for a new domain.
  • Take into consideration that web hosting is a global service. It does not matter what country you are located in; US, UK, Canada, Australia or India. It is good to note that the cost of hosting services in most countries is generally a little more expensive in comparison to the same services in Canada and the United States. Specifically, American web hosts offer a much better value for money than any local hosting.
  • Thank you for your recommendation but I am currently using Godaddy. I will try it for new domain.
  • Thanks for the recommendation, I will have to check them out.
  • Sounds like a good service.
  • I think that 1and1 and netfirms are best domain registrars that offer great services, like DNS control, free WHOIS privacy, email account, etc.

There are many sources to register the Domain Name I registered My Domain Name in here http://www.tucktail.com/ at low cost..They provided me many free services,,In think that free services cannot be provide others.
  • I've been with GoDaddy since the jump, but I have heard good things about 1&1--not only the registration side but also the hosting.
  • Thanks for the recommendation, handy to know when my domain is up for renewal, good to hear from someone impartial rather than reading a company's marketing spiel! I'm with godaddy at the moment but will check this out, I'm liking the fact the private registration is free!
  • I am currently using Godaddy But I will have to check them out.

  • I have few domain names that registered with them, it is the cheapest price that I can find among the domain registration market. Now 1and1 offers .info domain at $0.99/year.
  • I suggest 1&1 domain services to my friend circle.

i use godaddy but i really enjoy read this post
  • I use mostly godaddy. With very few domains it's not worth moving to other registrant
  • You may be lucky and find someone with a related business that could really use the names. But that is highly unlikely.
  • As you are well aware, the worst thing that could happen is you lose one of your domain names. Price is important, but not always the most important.
  • Plus you have a major cheering section going for. Though I do have to admit, that you are slightly crazy...but in a very good way.
  • Hey it is the beauty of nature, see nature gives us to much and we did not notice to pay attention in the conservations of the natural species.
  • That is really exciting to visit the school and shared the knowledgeable thoughts with them. Hopeful it would be the great fun.
  • There are other things to take in consideration with using a domain registration company. The most important to me is knowledgeable, 24/7 customer service. With that many domain names, you want to be sure they are watching your back. What I mean by watching your back, they better give me the option to automatically renew, or send me many reminders, that it is time to renew. As you are well aware, the worst thing that could happen is you lose one of your domain names. Price is important, but not always the most important.

    Thank you,
    Mark
  • That's impressive that they give free private registration. I have an alternate PO Box set up for most mine so I dont have to give away my real PO Box when registering domains.

Thank you for your recommendation, I will try it.
  • I am currently using Godaddy.. but your recommendation is also good

    Thanks
  • Really the people will like the ways we are getting the domain name and that with great benefits as such.
  • That sound great you should not leave the as it by the now have been the part of of your life.
  • That's cool that they give free private registration. That is something I wanted to do with my own domains, but I was too cheap to spend the extra $2/domain/year
  • Thanks for the information, i will give it a try. Hope it works as fast as you say. thanks
  • Some people don't bother registering domain names and just use their server's IP address. However, as at least one person on Yahoo Answers found out, that doesn't make them private, it just means you need to know the IP address rather than remembering a domain name.
  • I have lot of domains at 1 and 1 hosting, they have great service but seems 1and1 UK doesnt allow few things I need.

    1. Private registrations of .com domains, where as all registrars allows that the UK wing of 1and1 is not offering this service.

    2. Private nameservers, we can not add a child nameservers from domain CP, my host assigned me separate IP but, we only use the temporary name servers.

I hope they will come up with a solution to this issue.

I just went over to GoDaddy and found that they also offer free private registration, but only if you purchase five or more domains, so that may not be much of a selling point if you're not prepared to buy that many at once. At this point I don't know enough about 1&1 to decide whether they would be the better pick, but I will definitely keep them in mind.
  • Hey ! This is an outrage, very deceitful practice by Yahoo. I heard yahoo is not the registrar, yahoo domains seem to be registered trough an australian company called Melbourne IT, which is not shown anywhere in their website.
  • I have few domain names that registered with them, it is the cheapest price that I can find among the domain registration market. Now 1and1 offers .info domain at $0.99/year.
  • Hello , I think this is nice info for me bcoz i want to buy a domain also. Plz let me know how can i buy a .com domain...
  • The next step in finding web hosting services for your needs is to compare the rates of different hosting companies. While many companies will offer temptingly low rates it's crucial to know how much the prices will grow if your services and customer base expand.
  • Elsabe
Great information - I was just looking to register a couple more domains and ended up here.

I previously used GoDaddy (as most people) but will definitely look at these guys next time
  • Thanks for the reference. I'm always looking for quality options. The free private registration is a nice touch.
  • I use network solution for domain registration. But you recommended i'll try it next time.
  • Currently i dont' want to change hosting server. I'll use 1&1 for domain registration.
  • It’s really good and important information.I am really thankful to u as well as I would like to tell you this is really a good article. Keep blogging.
  • I am currently using godaddy.com. Actually I have been using them for 5 years and have always found them to be excellent. 1&1 is a very tempting carrot to run with their offer or private registration.
  • When you say "free private registration", do you mean that registering a domain name for private purposes is free? I have never heard of anyone offering that. Are there limits or conditions to that offer? I will check out the site, thanks.
  • I have not seen free private registration yet. It costs me more than $40 now with another company. Thanks for the info. I will definetly check it out.
  • hello sara, the private registration option is great. but i have noticed that the response times on domains registered with 1&1 is slower than godaddy. so if you have a domain that has a lot of traffic will affect performance, if that level of timing matters.
  • Really edsley? :( Wow I had never considered or given thought to transfer times, that may very well be a critical thing for us all to look at in the future when registering domains, if we are forwarding them to a different domainame host

    Till then,

    Jean
  • sounds good,I'll have a check
  • I think the information presented will be useful to many people a lot. I appreciate your work & hope for some good posts in the future.
  • Thanks for apprising such a nice service, i will prefer it to read my friend.
  • 1&1 is good domain registration service. I'll try it next time for domain registration.
  • Wow free private registration?! That sounds like a great way to cut down on some of the spam I receive. I just wonder if their final price is comparable to other cheap domain registrars.
  • Humm you make a good point, perhaps that is why as of late I am receiving more and more spam, and its not like its just one of my emails, but pretty much all of them linked to my domain registration email :(

    Till then,

    Jean
  • I am currently using Godaddy as my Domain Registrar, but that "free" private registration that you mention that 1&1 does is very tempting to switch to them!

    Till then,

    Jean
