Somebody was asking me for advice in finding a job; I offered to introduce the person to a hiring manager at a software company that needs a junior level q/a. Somebody to click links on web pages, and send an email when one is broken. My friend declined, saying that he's not capable of working with computers ... that it's a left-brain / right-brain thing. As a person who's paid for my camera gear mostly by writing T-SQL, this is hard to accept. I'm not wonderful at accounting, either, but having a bank account has forced me to be competent enough not to find myself on the street. Anyone can learn a new skill. Not everyone can master it. In your list ( photography, writing, coding, design ) I think I have a pretty good handle on the first three ... but I'm terrible at the last. I've put in a lot of work, and know a great deal more, but I'll never design the look and feel for the next iPod. But then I don't need to, either. I wasn't born with any of these skills. I'm guessing you were born with an <i>aptitude</i> for marketing, but probably knowing a great deal less than you do today.
