I recently added Winning the Web to my reader and have been catching up on archives as well. It is an excellent blog full of in-depth, high-quality articles about all aspects of internet marketing. Authored by Gyutae Park, an SEO and entrepreneur from New York, Winning the Web is jam-packed with original information.
Gyutae recently coined a new term: blog hopping. Much like the term “bar-hopping,” from which it is derived, blog-hopping is exactly what it sounds like. Gyutae features a blog and everyone who reads the blog-hoping posts head over to read it, leave comments and perhaps discover a new blog they’d like to read on a regular basis.
For me, blogging is all about community and I think blog-hopping is an excellent new way to engage. It also puts everyone on an even playing field, not being based on pagerank or Alexa ranking or anything of the sort. To have your blog spotlighted on Winning the Web’s Blog Hopping post, you basically just do what I am doing right now. Here’s the plan straight from Gyutae:
To be featured as the weekly blog hop blogger…
1. Link to this post from your blog. The goal here is to increase exposure for our featured blogs in the blog hopping events. The more links, the more value for all.
2. Leave a comment to this post with your blog’s URL.
3. Visit featured blogs each week, be active, leave comments, and link when appropriate.
4. Hope the featured blogger picks you for the next blog hop!
This week’s featured blog is Mike Folan Dot Com. This blog has just recently reached the three-month mark (Congrats, Mike – that’s the milestone!) and covers a wide range of topics. Mike has an easy, conversation writing style and I found both his newest posts and the archives interesting.
I hope that my readers will go check out Mike Folan Dot Com and Winning the Web. Blog-hopping is a great idea for the blogging community and I hope it spreads.
