I know I have mentioned Quality Host Online* many times before, but I have to offer up a dedicated rave review to these guys.

In the past few months I had been kicking around the idea of selling up for a reseller account. It’s something that Vic Franqui highly suggests for those of us who have a ton of websites. The other options are to either (1)set up separate hosting accounts for each domain or (2) set up each domain as an add-domain with one main hosting account. My current setup was #2.

Finally in the last few weeks I decided it was time to switch over before my domains got out of control. I currently have about 25 domains and plan to double or triple this within the next six months.

My experience with Quality Host Online has been nothing but terrific, but I’m a comparison shopper so I did a bit of research. Not only were QHO’s prices better – especially with their current Reseller Blowout Sale – but I already knew their service and customer service were excellent.

I have read a lot about reseller hosting accounts so I had a fairly good theoretical knowledge base, but as far as putting things into practice, I am definitely a novice. The guys at Quality Host Online have been absolutely fantastic. I can literally email them 24 hours a day 7 days a week and count on a reply within minutes. Lately I have been working at night and sleeping during the day so this has been a major help.

Not only that, but they have talked me through the setup process, making it (so far) painless. My domains are registered with three different companies so this could have been a total nightmare, but because of the in-depth instructions I was given it was a breeze to get everything set up. I even ended up transferring a couple of my domains over to QHO for registration. That is definitely not the easiest process in the world, but their clear instructions and hand-holding emails made it all go smoothly.

I’m not sure how I’m going to proceed with the reseller account as far as setting up and managing hosting for other people. At this point I plan to set up a couple of friends. I was thinking that I might run a contest to give away from free hosting accounts. Would anyone be interested in that?

I’d just ask for a linkback and then randomly choose a few people to have free hosting for a year. I could even get their Wordpress blog set up or something extra. Would you guys consider that a prize worth linking for?

In the meantime, definitely go check out the packages already available at Quality Host Online. They are inexpensive, the uptime is great and the customer service is up there in the top three of any IT company with which I have ever worked.

  • We have found that the Planet offers great customer support and I would encourage you to research them if you need a dedicated server.
  • I've been considering shifting to a reseller - I'm also under the influence of Vic - I've decided to leave it until January when buying is slower. If something goes awry, I don't want my money sites down for long in the run up to Christmas.

  • Good to know abt the host i am planning to buy the account ..thanks for letting us know abt the customer service ...i always prefer it first
  • Finding a good hosting company is a major part of having a successful website. So many people go with the cheapest and end up paying some kind of price down the road in service or quality from that choice.
  • Free Domain name for life! That's not a bad deal. To register a domain for 100 years at godaddy is $999.99
  • What was your main concern about having too many addon domains. I'm new to the game and this is how I've been setting up my blogs also, where is the danger point?

    Thanks,
    Bill

  • I know someone who has used Quality Host Online, and it is about as good as any other generic hosting company. He hasn't complained about it, but also hasn't said anything too exciting about it. He would probably tell you it is worth using.

  • Interesting ... I know a lot of people struggle with host reseller accounts; planning to have a hundred of your own sites is a new twist, at least for me. I hope it works out for you!

How many of your sites are WordPress based? I'm guessing QHO has never given you trouble over that? My own web host caps CPU, etc, and apparently has notoriously low caps, so I've been thinking about moving.

  • Nice tip.

I personally think that reviews and recommendations like this are the best way for people to find solid and reliable hosting. While something like 1on1 might be cheap and some people get it - it is also a crap and blog success greatly depends on good host.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • You can't go wrong with Vic's info. I am in the same boat as you with the subdomains. It makes it difficult to keep track.

Thanks for dropping your EC card on my site. I reciprocated.

Did you happen to notice what my site is all about? It is a new concept in site directories. I would be honored if you would come back and take a look. It is still in the construction stages; however, I am accepting participants in preparation for its official launch. One of its unique qualities is the granularity of the categories, and the fact that you can join multiple categories; you are not limited to just one like all other directories. If you cannot find a category that fits your needs exactly, just let me know and I will create it.

Being part of SlogBite now would bode well for you when it launches; probably in about 1-2 months from now.
