Every once in awhile I post articles on keeping your PC in good health. I’ve found some good articles on the subject lately so I thought I’d share them.

  • PC Hell has a great article on how to speed up boot time on a PC running Windows.

  • If your computer is infected and you’re unsure with what, there is a very intensive thread about identifying and removing malware at the Major Geeks Forum. This step-by-step guide will walk you through installation and execution of many applications that will scan and clean your harddrive. If you are still having problems when you’re done, you can save your log files and upload them to the forum for diagnostics. Even if you’re not currently having PC issues, I’d recommend reading the article for some of the general maintenance and infection prevention tips included.
  • A great source for overll PC health is PC Pitstop. When you sign up for a free account at PC Pitstop, you can run a series of diagnostic tests on your PC. Then you can post the results and the mechanics in the forums will take a look and help you solve your problems. And it’s all free. So if you’re experiencing any issues with your PC, I highly recommend heading over there to have their experts check it out for you.

    Thanks in advance.
  • Program PC-health, do I need it or can I can it?
  • Sadly, I'm not as computer-savvy as some people think. PC Pitstop has been a really helpful source for all my hardware and software queries. Looks like the Major Geeks forum may come in handy, too, someday.
