This is just a quick note to tell you about a new site called Smallaa. It is a social site, helping to connect members by linking their common interests. The site is still in Beta and in order to attract new members, they are giving away $10,000 each Wednesday to the most popular content from the previous week. Here’s the official statement:

We have just launched our internet service to help everyone track their interests. We need good content to start; in return we are giving out $10,000 cash to the provider of the most liked post by our Smallaa users for that past week. A post can be a text, a question, a link, an alert, an event, a picture or a video. Each individual post is eligible to win once.

The last winner was the question: “What would you do if you were president of the United States?” Imagine that, $10,000 for a quick question. Wow.

Anyway, I’ll be brainstorming for something brilliant to post and if I were you, I’d try it as well. It’s free and you can make as many posts as you want. The link again:

  • Oh, I got great plans when I become President. And to become Presedent with $10K is a good start, isn’t it?
  • Thanks for providing the information. I am in a real rush to get the most interesting content and get this huge sum of money.

wow, this site really sucks and I can't find anything about the $10k... is this ligit?
  • Yes, I might say it is a good marketing strategy. But i hope they would be able to select an entry with good quality.
  • Talk about a nice PR stunt? Not bad at all, sure $10,000 is alot each week to give away but look at what it has done? You are bloggin about it, we read it, we check it out and then we probably blog about it. Smart indeed.
  • Wow! That’s a great idea. But is it really possible to earn such a big amount by sending such a question like this?

  • Does such cash incentives actually encourage quality writing? I wonder if you can summon creative instincts on demand like that.
  • $ 10.000 cash... They must have deep pockets I guess.
It definitely gets visitors and postings, that's for sure
  • That's a very large sum of money. Not only do these writers have the chance to show off what they've got, but they also get the chance to win that much.
  • Wow, these guys must have some angel investors throwing money at them so they can offer 5 figure sums each week as prize money.
  • Very wonderful promotional gift and the best activities for internet users! These activities will force people to learn language and get mastery of particular subject so that one can write about the at the same time prize. I went to smaller link and I did sign up there and did post a question. I forwarded to my friends.

I think that these sorts of 'big' competitions are great ideas for increasing the 'name' that a site has, but I wonder how well they really work. I've never been able to find any statistics on their effectiveness. I'll definitely be looking for a good idea to post though *grin*... I could definitely do with $10K
  • What...WOW that's crazy. I guess content is king. So important that they'd give $10k. That's amazing. thanks for the post.
  • Smallaa seems to be a really great idea, not to mention beneficial to bloggers. Thanks for the rec!

  • Sometimes, we wonder about the start-up costs that some companies estimate that they spent during the beginning of the public display of their company. The $10000's which are being released by Smallaa would go into their expenses, and they would be planning for gains in excess of that which would be released. It does get many people quickly tuned into what their site offers.
