I have been very busy this week with web projects so I am way behind on feed reading. This week’s trip is going to be a bit short, but I promise I will make up for it with the great content I have coming up this week.
- This one isn’t new, but Mark Knowles has a great Hub Page explaining how he got his hub on Google’s first page. It’s a great step-by-step and Mark wrote it purely for the benefit of others, there is no “so go buy this!” at the end or any of that bullsh!t. Enjoy!
- Another article that isn’t quite new, but still rings true is from Vic at Blogger Unleashed. The original article, How to Get Google Juice is great. But the real gold is in the pile of comments. Definitely don’t skim this one, it is worth whatever time it takes you to get it. Basically, Vic explains how to get your site indexed by Google in minutes.
- Liz Strauss shares Ten Advantages of Being a Beginner in a Bloggers’ World. It is a very thoughtful and thought-provoking post. It reminded me that blogging is a constant exploration of myself, others and the blogosphere in general.
- Avinash has a great post up on Occam’s Razor about making web analytics actionable by focusing on what has changed. He points out that most sites, even blogs that are posted to regularly, change very slowly over time. Despite traffic numbers, you will find that your keywords generally stay the same from one month to the next. By tracking what does change, however, you can learn a lot about visitors and your site.
- Gavin at Ryan Shamus dot com discusses a new network marketing program he is going to start promoting called The Renegade University. The post isn’t a sales pitch, though, it is Gavin’s plan for how he is going to use attraction marketing to bring in visitors to a targeted blog and get sign-ups. Even if you aren’t really into MLM or network marketing, the post is definitely worth reading just to see how Gavin has laid the groundwork for a successful campaign in advance.
- I have never put myself in the Trip before, so this is a first. Yesterday I published my first ever HubPage. It is about standard costing which is a financial management method used as part of a cost accounting process. I am not a financial expert by any means, but I have been researching different issues lately as they relate to managing my business. If you like the Hub, please use the link near the bottom to Digg it. If you do that and leave a comment here with a post you’d like to have Dugg, I will reciprocate.
All right. It’s 4 AM and I have to get up at 9 AM so that is going to end this week’s Trip Around the Blogosphere. I will have another post up later today and a ton of great content coming in the next couple of weeks so be sure you subscribe or bookmark.
If you have a site or a post that you’d like to see featured in this weekly column, just leave a comment or use the contact link to let me know. I do respond to all requests, but it may take some time depending on the volume.
